Capt. J. S. Whitty

Captain Whitty was in Jamaica in the 1830s, though exactly why he was here I have yet to discover; can anyone help?

The coloured lithographs based on Whitty's sketches were published in London in 1839.

This is an edited excerpt from my favourite of the six lithographs.

The Art-Union,  Vol. 1, 1839

1. Panoramic view of Kingston Harbour, from the Apostle's Battery.
2. Kingston Harbour and adjacent country, from Charlottenberg (St. Andrew's Mountains).
3. Waterfall near the Windward Road.
4. View of Mount Moses (Coffee Property). Parish of St. Andrews.
5. The St. Andrew's Mountains, from near Up Park Camp.
6. View in the St. Andrew's Mountains, near Content Gap
